Moses Watatua

Harmony Kenya Foundation

In Episode 13 of the AfriCAN Do! Podcast, we sit down with the remarkable Moses Watatua, a true "talent philanthropist" and founder of the Harmony Kenya Foundation. With over 25 years of experience teaching music in both private and government schools, Moses has witnessed firsthand the stark disparity in music education in Kenya. He's dedicated his life to bridging that gap, ensuring that every child, regardless of their circumstances, has the opportunity to unlock their musical potential.

Moses' journey is an inspiring testament to the power of passion and dedication. From his formative years as a band member and leader at Nairobi School to his B.Ed in Music from Kenyatta University, his love for music has been a constant. He honed his skills teaching at prestigious schools like Nairobi Academy, Banda School, Serare School, and Brookhouse School, where he served as Director of Performing Arts for 18 years.

Driven by a desire to democratize music education, Moses stepped away from his role at Brookhouse to establish the Harmony Kenya Foundation. This trust focuses on building and supporting music departments in government schools, empowering students to develop their talents and create brighter futures.
